Product Information

CyberSoft continues to upgrade the VFind products to make the computer security software easier for customers. In mid-February, CyberSoft will release VFind Security ToolKit (VSTK) 170 which is an upgrade from the current VSTK 169. The VFind Security ToolKit boasts the world’s first UNIX virus scanner and a unique heterogeneous design that allows for complete protection, even in today’s multi-platform networks. VSTK 170 will improve reliability, functionality, performance and integration. With all these upgrades, VSTK 170 will require LESS memory. Cybersoft constantly works on finding ways to improve all of its products. Customers with current Maintenance and Support contracts will be eligible for a free VSTK 170 upgrade when the product is officially released.

Improvements in SafeInternetEmail (SIE) 5.0 will be available to all active customers in mid-January of 2006. The overall performance of SIE 5.0 has been outstanding, and we are working to remove any bugs found. Similar to all of CyberSoft’s other products, we work continuously to improve the features available to make it perform better for you.

SIE will incorporate SpamAssassin in future additions. While CyberSoft believes that its three-token Bayes filter is superior to SpamAssassin’s two-token filters, we have come to recognize that customers prefer having SpamAssassin because of name recognition. This was also the case when VHS video tape won out over Betamax, which was a superior technology. What the customers demand is what they receive. Engineering studies for conversion to SpamAssassin within SIE are concluding now. The VFind Turbo anti-virus will remain the same. Look for further announcements on this topic.

SIE Turbo Performance Improvements

Customers have contacted CyberSoft about the noticeable improvements in the SafeInternetEmail upgrade to SafeInternetEmail (SIE) Turbo. This has improved overall performance and reduced memory requirements simultaneously, resulting in better throughput, especially for larger volume customers. In addition to blocking spam using VDL and Bayesian technology, SIE Turbo also provides effective discretionary e-mail blocking by allowing customers to create their own patterns. As CyberSoft releases new versions of SIE, prior versions will gradually become unsupported. All current SIE customers with an up-to-date Maintenance & Support agreement will receive an SIE Turbo upgrade at no cost.

VFind Quality Continues To Set The Standard

West Coast Labs has developed the Checkmark certification system into one of the world’s foremost certification programs. CyberSoft received and maintains Anti-Virus Level 1 certification. CyberSoft products detect all those viruses which are “in the wild”, meaning it has been reported by more than one person. West Coast Labs is recognized as being experts in the field of anti-virus testing. Another distinguished testing facility, AV-Test.org, performs formal testing every two weeks. Results are sent to CyberSoft’s senior management, engineering management and the Senior Virus Analyst. It is a global service, which benefits technology developers, information security buyers and decision-makers. The standards are continuously being developed to ensure that they are an accurate reflection of real-world situations and changing technology advances.
