Delegate Administration

SafeInternetEmail provides a way for the SIE administrator to delegate access to the user level or to block messages by domain.

Domain administrators can customize what type of e-mail they will allow their end-users to control. Virus, Harass Language, Spam, or even custom blocks can be forced on or allowed to be turned off at end-user discretion.

Decoded E-mail Views

By utilizing CyberSoft's core product UAD, messages are decomposed to a viewable level. This also forces the ability for users to select between HTML or Plain Text views regardless of browser capability.

User White/Black Lists

Users have the flexibility of creating their own lists based on spam, virus, bad extensions, or harassing language. This capability can also be restricted based on domain settings.

Domain Notifications

Each domain can have customized notifications for threat identification or quarantined message notifications.

Customizable Templates

By utilizing simple HTML, administrators can modify the graphic display to either domain or end-users to reflect the desired branding for their organizations.

Bayes Filtering

Our patent pending implementation that statistically assigns a probability based on good versus spam messages processed by SIE. This means it is truly adaptive to the e-mail usage of your organization at the server level.

A powerful keyword or phrase expression editor that allows you to quickly create definitions to block viruses, spam, harassing language, or intellectual property from entering or leaving your organization. All of this can be done regardless of whitespace, punctuation, or case.

Lexical White List

Utilizing an aspect of the Custom Filter Creator allows organizations to create exceptions for spam and harassing language that would allow messages to be released as good, even if they are identified as SPAM by a lexical definition or the Bayes filter.

Authentication Methods

Currently user authentication can be provided locally to SIE or against existing LDAP, Radius, POP3 or IMAP servers.

Polymorphic Macros (PolyMac)

Our lexical definitions use these macros to make each definition dynamic based on several factors. This allows our definitions to continually be effective against known spam regardless of changes such as unsubscribe language or punctuation changes.

Anti-Virus Scanning

Utilizing CyberSoft’s VFind engine you can feel confident viruses will be blocked before they reach your users. SIE can detect and stop viruses including polymorphic, Java, Active X, and macro types regardless of extension.

File Type Blocking

SIE allows for default blocking of the following file types; ade, adp, bas, bat, chm, cmd, com, cpl, crt, dll, do, exe, hlp, ht, inf, ins, isp, js, \, md, ms, pcd, pif, pl, pot, pp, pwz, reg, scr, sct, shb, shs, vb, vbs, ws, wsf, wsh, and xl

Archive Scanning

SIE performs recursive scanning of all popular archive types such as zip and tar. By breaking down an archive to it’s atomic state contents can be blocked based on extension or virus and spam filters

Real-time Blackhole
List Support

SafeInternetEmail uses several as the first line of defense against spam. Customers that also subscribe to the for-fee MAPS list can include that as well.

Auto-Update

Updates for virus and spam definitions are checked every hour and are automatically downloaded and applied without restarting the system.

Serialized Spam Filters

Each spam blocking definition contains a unique serial number. This allows quick editing or removal of filters that may not be appropriate for some businesses.

Spam is separated into thirteen categories so businesses or users can chose which spams (by category) to receive or reject. Categories include: Credit, Business, Pornography, Offers, General (Get Rich Quick) and several others.

Comprehensive
Harassment Blocking

SafeInternetEmail comes complete with definitions that block specific usage of words that are known to be a sexual or flaming by nature

Address Exclusions

E-mail etiquette rules can be over-ridden by adding domains or addresses to our exceptions list. These e-mails will be allowed to pass unless they are infected by a virus.

Configurable Notifications

E-mails can be customized based on block type or person receiving the notification. (sender/recipient/administrator)

Logging

Extensive Logging is performed so administrators can view header, body, html, and the results of scanned e-mail. Allowing for quick discovery of reason for blocking.

Web Based Management

The Web-based queue management interface provides access to all of the current and archived queues. Managers first authenticate using a UserID and Password, and each manager can selectively be assigned read-only or read-write privileges for each domain hosted on the mail server. Security is achieved through SSL, SSH, or VPN connections.

Exhaustive Spam Analysis

Each new spam is reviewed by specially trained lexical analysts. They create a definition and then run it against thousands of clean and spam e-mails/files. Just forward unblocked spam to spam@cyber.com. One of our global analysts will review it.

Relay System

CPU intensive e-mail scanning is performed outside of production servers. This means spam and viruses are stopped before they reach your mail delivery system and ultimately your users.

These are the tools that make SafeInternetEmail a product that you can trust. VFind Security Toolkit components have aided in protecting mission critical systems in the UNIX community for over 12 years. That expertise has been implemented to create the strongest e-mail protection today.

Core Technology
Description

VFind

The engine behind our scanning capabilities. As a true heterogeneous scanner it identifies viruses regardless of the file or OS type. This automatically prevents file-type spoofing so files can be scanned regardless of the extension. By utilizing the CVDL language patterns can also be updated without updating the build executable.

UAD

It is the tool that is able to decompose e-mail, including attachments in uuencode and mime formats. It is also able to decompose tar, gnu gzip, pkzip, zip2exe, UNIX compress and other formats. UAD will continue decomposition recursively until every part of the file has been decomposed into a state that is known to be a terminus (atomic state) or has been decomposed into an unknown format.

JDIS

JDIS is a tool that performs fast disassembly of Java byte code. It is important to disassemble Java byte code prior to virus scanning because it is the only way to associate constant pool entries with opcodes. This association allows the virus scanner to scan for what is actually going on in the program instead of guessing.

SmartScan

The CyberSoft SmartScan format is a method of encapsulating a group of files, file names, and types, into a single stream. This allows VFind to detect content regardless of white space or punctuation.
